We are building a digital platform for a food trading, supply chain, and distribution business. Its purpose is to provide a single, trustworthy backbone for running the company, scaling confidently, and making decisions from clean, timely data.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will become the digital core and authoritative system of record. Around it, tightly integrated third‑party and in‑house AI powered services will connect through governed APIs and event streams to preserve a single source of truth. The architecture will prioritize reliability, auditability, and observability, with governance, security, and compliance embedded into how we build and operate.
This is a high-ownership role for someone who doesn’t just “fix what’s broken,” but designs and builds durable systems, processes, and standards that elevate how the organization operates day-in and day-out.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Architecture: Manage the boundary between the ERP and external systems. You will apply a disciplined "Clean Core" approach, utilizing AL fluency to enhance BC while identifying logic that is better suited for standalone services.
Data & Integration Discipline: Design the contracts, events, and flows that ensure data remains consistent, traceable, and explainable across all systems.
Operational Maturity: Own the health of production systems by implementing telemetry, SLOs, and health checks, ensuring every fix is durable and every incident is a learning opportunity.
Engineering Standards: Act as the final word on quality. You will keep internal workflows and external vendors aligned with rigorous standards for documentation, code quality, and deliverables.
Leadership Evolution: Establish the technical foundation today with the clear mandate to transition into a Team Lead role, taking ownership of team growth and engineering culture as the department scales
Key Role Objectives:
ERP implementation successfully delivered, meeting business needs and adopted by end users.
Core business processes are consolidated into a single, trusted system of record (clean data, clear ownership, reliable integrations).
Strong role played in advancing a company-wide automation platform, reducing friction, cycle time, and manual work through scalable tooling and workflows.
Strong ownership – including stable systems, clear documentation, and repeatable processes that the organization can build on.

Qualifications:
Must-have:
7+ years building and operating production systems, with clear ownership in ambiguous environments.
Delivered services/microservices and integrations (APIs, webhooks, messaging/queues, secure file exchange) and ran them in production.
Solid BC/AL experience (objects, eventing, API integrations, environment/release management).
Distributed systems skills: idempotency, reconciliation, back‑pressure/retries, and failure‑mode design across data flows.
DevOps fundamentals: CI/CD, environment promotion, secrets management, infrastructure‑as‑code, and operational runbooks.
Communication and documentation that make designs and decisions understandable to non‑engineers.
Nice to have:
Experience in food distribution, logistics, retail/CPG, or trading‑partner/EDI ecosystems. .
Familiarity with AI‑assisted workflows and data quality tooling.
Prior people leadership of a small engineering team.

Base Pay: $175,000 - $210,000
